I am wirting my first draft of this in November as that is supposedly ok to start watching Christmas movies. Initally based on the US Netflix, however there is very little offering currently, and at the time of writing i found that the UK Netflix has a better collection
- Nativity (UK)
- The Christmas Chronicles
- The Christmas Chronicles 2
- White Christmas
- Trailer Park Boys (Christmas special)
- Deck the Halls (UK)
- Office Christmas Party (UK)
- Jack Frost
1. Nativity

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
6.4/10 | 48/100 |
The Nativity is easily in my top 5 Christmas movies. If you have not seen it then quite simply it is about a school class putting on a Nativity scene. A very British film starring Martin Freeman (Bilbo from the hobbit). The story of a teacher who teaches the lowest grade class in the school, pupils who have very little confidence. They are tasked with puttign on the school nativity, but to boost their moral the teacher (Martin Freeman) unwillingly fall into a lie that Hollywood were coming to film their nativity.
A really funny move start to finish. IF you can’t access it on the UK Netflix then maybe try a VPn to view on your Netflix in the US.
2. The Christmas Chronicles

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
7/10 | 68/100 |
I thoroughly enjoyed this movies first time I saw it, it is as close as your going to get as an epic Santa Clause super hero movie without it slipping into being to silly.
The story really is a classic Santa Claus belief story and Christmas being thrown into chaos as our main characters race to save Christmas with Santa. Great for the whole family and suitable for all ages.
3. The Christmas Chronicles 2

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
6/10 | 65/100 |
If you have finished the first movie and enjoy it then head over to the second, no its not as good but is still a nice continuation one the story. Exploring a little more of Santa, the North Pole and more characters such as Mrs Claus, an elf gone bad and lots more.
The story is another “save Christmas” tale but this time largely based ion the North Pole.
4. White Christmas (1954)

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
7.5/10 | 77/100 |
WE don’t have many old Christmas movies on Netflix currently to choose from but this is the best classic currently available. This is the Christmas movie staring Bill Crosby! If you are a fan of 50s cinema and music along with old time song and dance entertainment then this is the movie to watch at Christmas.
A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general.
Feel-good romantic comedy of a better and simpler time in cinema.
5. Trailer Park Boys (Christmas Special)

MDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
8/10 | na |
This i my adults only selection in the list. To be honest if you have not watched any Trailer PArk Boys series then this may be lost on you.
The Trailer Park series for anyone unaware is a hugely popular Canadian adult comedy docu-drama filmed in the same style as The Office. It follows the lives of a community Canadian trailer park residents. This is fowl mouth and not appropriate for children.
For those who know Trailer Park Boys then this really is much of the same as all the other episodes, so absolutely brilliant and hilarious.
6. Deck The Halls (2006)

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Score | Where to Watch |
5/10 | 57/100 | Starz free trial |
(Source: IMDb)
If you are looking for a good family comedy Christmas movie for the whoile family then this is your go to one currently available on Starz. Starring Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito as warring neighbours as they slowly wind each other up and take things way to far. Fuelled from Danny DeVito’s character to have the biggest light display in America.
7. Office Christmas Party (UK)

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Score | Where to Watch |
5.8/10 | 40% |
I have included this into the list as this list needs a modern comedy for young adults, although Trailer Park Boys covers this far better unlike that you don’t need to have seen or followed a series to enjoy this.
In all honestly its not the best movie on this list or the best Christmas movie appropriate for young adults, but at the time of writing it is one of the only ones available.
The movie is exactly as the title suggests. Employees throw a massive office party in order to try and land a massive new client.
8. Jack Frost

IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Score | Where to Watch |
5.4/10 | 19/100 |
To conclude my list I have added a 90s classic. Probably one of the best movies where the feature is a snowman rather than Santa Claus.
This is a family friendly movie and tells the story of how a father who had sadly passed away comes back to life through a boys snowman. This movies is both sad/moving whilst also being a feel-good Christmas classic.
The movie has all the elements you would expect from a 90s family favourite, from a group of bullies getting what they to deserve to an impossible miracle.
It is a little cheesy and at time cringy but i personally can overlook at that and see the funnier side given the era of cinema.
