1. The Evil Dead (1981)

Evil Dead is an over the top cult gore horror. Over the top with gore and ridiculous acting that it will make a modern audience laugh, if this was made today it would be classed as a comedy. The plot is quite simple, 5 friends go to stay at a remote cabin only to accidentally release a bunch of demons from a book. The whole movie is basically them getting possessed by demons and having to kill them by whatever means necessary. The movie has had sequels and remakes as well as a Netflix series with the original main actor which I am currently enjoying. This is a classic horror and a must watch for all horror fans.

2. Terrifier

The Terrifier is somewhere between Saw and Pyscho with a Clown thrown to make this a Clown horror movie. The Plot is simple (maybe too simple) a couple of drunk girls out a night acting silly when it takes a turn for the worse and they are kidnapped by a psychotic killer dressed as a clown. It is a low budget movie but no quite b-movie budget, but somewhere in between. There is no back story,  clever plot or twist but is purely for entertainment of horror gore fans.

The Terrifier is currently available on the US Netflix If you already have Netflix you can access this movie on Netflix by using a VPN service with a free trial and setting your location to US. Alternatively you can rent on Amazon Prime by clicking here.

3. Would You Rather

Would You Rather is a nasty little physiological type horror where guests are invited to a dinner party and forced to play a game of would you rather. However they must act out there choices which involves doing unspeakable acts to themselves or others. The whole film is set in a single room and uses emotion and intrigue to entertain the audience. Similar to other movies such as The Platform, The Circle or even a cross between a classic such as 12 Angry Men and SAW. I watched this movie late one night and if you are on your own or with some like minded friends I would definitely recommend. However, I would not recommend watching with your wife or any other family members, even on Halloween, its just not that sort of movie. Kind of like the first time you watch the Human Centipede Hostel.

Funhouse massacre is bascially has gore in the name. A great plot where a group of the world’s most dangerous psychotic killers escape and choose to reign terror at a carnival within the Funhouse. Its not a supernatural horror but it is easily the most fun gore horror movie I have ever seen. It is fun in the same way as The Purge, not at all scary but just lots of gore, killing, bad acting (in a good way that lots of horror fans love) and a great night of entertainment.

FunHouse Massacre is currently available on the UK Netflix If you already have Netflix you can access this movie on Netflix by using a VPN service with a free trial and setting your location to UK. Alternatively it is also available on Prim with a 30 day free trial by clicking here.

5. Murder Party

Murder Party is a nice little indie movie well executed and original. I have included in this list as it is low budget so some bad acting and hilariously bad graphics. That is as far as I can say about it being bad as it actually a very entertaining and funny watch. The story is about a man who finds an invitation for a Murder Party. The invitation is sent form a group of psychotic killers who didn’t really expect anyone to show up. The maniacs start to have internal conflict and a trail of killings begins in ridiculous gory mess of a movie.

As The Gods Will is a crazy and fun Japanese Horror, it is not scary but terribly gory and has all that over the top Japanese entertainment. The plot is simply a higher force of power (supposedly Gods) take over a high school and force the students to plat games of death. The games played are mostly well known games famous at kids parties with the exception being as soon as you are out you die a gruesome death. The movie has lots of sound effects, lots of colours and lots of laughs. If you like other popular Japanese movies such as Battle Royal then you will enjoy this.

7. Lessons of The Evil

Lessons of The Evil is another crazy anjd our 2nd Japanese, fun, ridiculous bit of gory entertainment to good to miss, not a supernatural horror and not made to be scary but very a very good horror. A Popular high school teacher goes nuts as he creates a plan to deal with bullies and bad behaviour, the plan is to basically kill and brutally torcher the students. Another movie clearly inspired by the popular Battle Royal, there are likely to be a few of these in this list.

8. Saw The Final Capter (3D)

Saw needs little introduction and this is the 3D Final Chapter movie. Although not the latest Saw movie it did finish off the first round of Saw movies. Obviously not as good as the original, they never were after that. However, if you are looking for Gore and perhaps some conclusion to this series then… a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror. Some loved the conclusion others felt it was rushed. Personally I think many SAW fans only like the movie as it was a pioneering movie in a new sub genre of gore and creative torcher, and if that’s why you enjoy these movies then yes this is worth a watch. If you seem to think there is a deeper meaning to the movies and is a form of literary art then no you will not like this concluding movie.

9. SAW VI

Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw’s legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw’s grand scheme is finally understood. Also available on the UK NEtflix if SAW 6, perhaps marginally btter than the 3D movie, but I stand by what i said about how fans only like the movie as it was a pioneering movie in a new sub genre of gore and creative torcher, and if that’s why you enjoy these movies then yes this is worth a watch. If you seem to think there is a deeper meaning to the movies and is a form of literary art then no you will not like this concluding movie.
