IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
6.2/10 | 69/100 | Hulu Free Trial |
A popular romantic comedy theme is a friends with benefits relationship. This has a perfect mix of bad decisions and humor that makes for a fun romantic comedy to watch alone or with your partner. It’s a straightforward plot that can be predictable, but this film doesn’t fail in its delivery.
Sex is a natural human function, and sometimes you just want it, without all of the complicated relationship stuff. At least, that’s what Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) want from each other. After reuniting with each other by chance, the two begin a strictly sexual relationship. The only rule is that if one starts to feel something more, the deal is off, and they stop.
The problem is that they both start to develop feelings for each other but taking a break from their arrangement proves to be harder than they thought. Watch as Emma and Adam figure out what everyone else could see the moment they met. They were meant for each other.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) – IMDb
IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
7.1/10 | 84/100 | Hulu Free Trial Peacock (subscription) |
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a fun film about a man whose broken heart leads him to Hawaii. There is some full-body nudity in the film, so if you’re uncomfortable seeing an adult male completely naked on your TV, you might enjoy this as much. Definitely not a film to watch with your children.
Peter (Jason Segel) is in love with the beautiful actress Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). He’s perfectly content with their life together until she dumps him seemingly out of nowhere. As his brother suggested, he takes a trip to Hawaii as a way to escape his depression and move on.
Everything seems fine until, as he’s checking into the hotel, he learns that Sarah is actually in Hawaii too, but with her new boyfriend. In an attempt to help him save face, the receptionist, Rachel (Mila Kunis), upgrades Peter’s room to the most expensive suite at the resort.
This film is hilarious and endearing as you watch Peter heal from Sarah’s betrayal. The cast is wonderful together, and you’re sure to fall in love with each of them too!
10. Hitch
Hitch (2005) – IMDb
IMDb Rating | Rotten Tomatoes Rating | Where Else to Watch |
6.6/10 | 76/100 | Hulu Free Trial |
Nothing better than when an emotionally unattached man realizes how to love a woman truly. These storylines make for great romantic comedies, and Hitch is definitely among some of the better ones.
Alex “Hitch” Hitchens (Will Smith) is a dating coach for men who need help getting a date. He tells them what to say, wear, and how to act to date the women of their dreams. You would think a man that seems to understand women so well would be in a happily committed relationship.
It turns out that isn’t the case for Hitch. In fact, when he finally meets the girl of his dreams, he becomes a blundering nervous wreck, just like his clients. The cast in this film work so well together and make this a heartwarming rom-com classic.

After accepting a job as an executive producer, she’s been assigned the task of reviving a failing morning show before the network cuts it completely. It feels like an impossible task, but Beck has a few ideas up her sleeves.
In order to succeed, she decides to hire reporter Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford), whose ego makes him difficult to work with. As she struggles to get Mike to do the job, she finds herself falling in love with Adam (Patrick Wilson), who works at the studio. Morning Glory is a wonderful movie that’s about more than romance. Such is the way of life, and two high school girls get a crash course in it after finding out that all of the party kids in their school got into great schools without really trying.
Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) spent their entire high school career working hard to get into a great college when they graduate. Just before graduation, they find out that the other kids in school were able to score these top schools too without putting in the time and work Amy and Molly did.
Molly proposes they do all of the crazy things they missed out on in high school before getting their diplomas. Last on the list is Friends with Kids. In a similar fashion to the age-old friends with benefits story, this film focuses on how children can completely change a person. It’s hard enough being a parent but trying to find love at the same time is almost impossible.
Jason (Adam Scott) and Julie (Jennifer Westfeldt) have been best friends forever, but they never saw each other as anything other than friends. Jason is with a different woman every week, and Julie is searching for her soulmate. So, what changes? They decide to have a baby together.
Against the better judgment of their friends, Jason and Julie move in together and share custody of their child. They continue their platonic relationship and search for their own separate love lives. Except maybe they should be looking at each other.
