When Cobb is tasked with planting an idea, rather than steal anything, things in this world get very interesting — and dangerous. This type of act is known as an Inception, but because all of these missions Cobb goes on are located within the dream world, he never knows what — or who — is going to show up to try and stop him.

The film centers around a family whose biological son is put in cryo-sleep until a cure can be found for a disease he has. His mother, Monica (Frances O’Connor), is distraught, and her husband volunteers their family for an experimental mecha who can love as a child loves a mother. When their real son returns, the child mecha, David (Haley Joel Osment), is suddenly in danger of losing the one thing he really wants: the love of his mother.
