1. The Witches

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | Where to Watch |
6.8 | 79 | Netflix |
Adapted from the Roald Dahl story, a young boy stumbles onto a witch convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse. This was one of my childhood horror movies, never sure why my mother use to put it on, the head witch reminded me of a primary school teacher only making it more terrifying both at home and at school. A must watch classic for all growing kids to give them a little something get to bed early.
2. The Little Vampire 3D

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | Where to Watch |
5.4 | 52 | Netflix |
Tony, a thirteen-year-old boy on vacation in rural Germany, is fascinated by the idea of vampires. Meanwhile Rudolph, a vampire of “similar” age (313!), encounters trouble when his clan is threatened by a dangerously obsessed hunter. A bit of teen bromance going on in this movies, could it be something more? not sure you decide on that one. A fun easy watch for all ages even the youngest in the room.

3. Dark Shadows

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | Where to Watch |
6.2 | 67 | Netflix |
Vampire Barnabas Collins is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate and family have fallen into ruin. This is probably the go to family horror movie on Netflix if you are trying to please a range of ages from small kids to teens and yourself and just can;t decide. A pretty average but satisfying Johnny Depp movie fully polished to Hollywood standards.
4. BeetleJuice

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | How To Watch |
7.5 | 85 | Netflix |
Beetle Juice is a fantastic comedy horror movie about a couple that die in an unfortunate car accident and when someone tries to move into their home they do all they can to haunt and scare the new owners away, but it doesn’t all go to plan. I have always loved this movie and is just one of the many movies from the 80s that is impossible to re-create today. Its not scary although small children may find it disturbing as there is lots of frightening make-up. If you have never seen this movie please do!
5. Goosebumps 1 & 2

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | How To Watch |
6.3 / 5.6 | 76 / 62 | Netflix |
An onslaught from witches, monsters, ghouls, a talking dummy and all other types of monsters from the mysterious books by author R. L. Stine. These movies are not an adaptation of the books but instead follow the author played by Jack Black along with other characters in a world where his monsters essentially escape his books to become real monsters. These books were part of my childhood so I made the effort to go see these at the cinema, very entertaining and funny, great for the whole family and young adults like myself. The first movie is notably better.
6. Hotel Transylvania 1, 2 & 3

IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | How To Watch |
7.1 / 6.7 / 6.3 | 77 / 75 / 71 | Netflix |
A hotel run by Dracula strictly a place for monsters and ghouls to get away from their regular lives where they are expected to be terrifying monsters, showing their gentle side and that they are all big wimps really. This movie is everything I wanted it to be, a kids cartoon but with plenty of adult humour and gags to keep everyone entertained. If you just want an easy film for everyone to enjoy then these movies are a clear winner.
