What is the best device for Hulu?
Short Answer – As with all things, “you get what you pay for” so the better the device you have the better quality your Hulu stream will be.
Apple TV 4K ($179), Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K ($40) and Roku Ultra ($80) will all give you top picture quality and with Amazon Fire stick being the best priced then I would go for this if your not looking at other apps and features available.
There are then tons of other options such as your ipad, iphone, Android devices, Xbox, Samsung TV, Sony TV, LG TV and of course a PC.
If you have a TV or Blu-Ray player that is already compatible and has a high-quality picture, then just search for the app and do not bother buying a new device.
My final answer Amazon Fire Stick 4K if you haven’t already got a HD or 4K TV with the Hulu app available.
How does Hulu work on my TV?
Hulu can work on a number of Apps connected to your TV through standard HDMI cable, or if you have a recent Sony, Samsung or LG TV or Blu-Ray player then you can download the app directly onto your TV.
Do you get local channels with Hulu?
To get the Hulu local channels you will just need to sign-up to the Live TV package when you follow your free trial on this page. Please be aware after selecting the Live TV option you will only have a 7 day free trial.
What’s the difference between the Hulu packages?
One package has adverts and one does not, then the most expensive package includes live TV. These channels for these can be found earlier in this post.
Does Hulu work on multiple TVs?
Yes you can watch with 2 devices simultaneously but create up to 6 profiles . However if you get the unlimited screens package then you can watch on as many screens as you like as long as they are all connected to the same internet network.
Does Hulu have DVR?
Yes, Hulu comes with 50 hours of DVR allowing you to set-up all the shows you wish to record. If you wish for more then you can upgrade to Enhanced DVR which will give you 200 hours of recordings. It will also allow you to fast-forward all the ad breaks.
Can I switch between Hulu packages?
Yes, it is not a contract so every month you can change, or you can simply upgrade at any time if your going for a more expensive package.
Hulu is one of Netflix main rivals, but only in the US as it has not yet rolled out worldwide. Personally I did not feel its selection of movies was as good as other competitors and nor was its selection of Box-sets. As a VOD service it is still lacking a lot of content behind Netflix and Amazon.
What Hulu does offer is the ability to combine VOD, Premium Networks and cord-cutting live TV. This ability does not come with any other package I have reviewed.
Technically if you were to purchase all the Networks and all the Channels then it would be very expensive as you will essentially be paying the same price if you were to sign-up to all services separately. All Hulu does is bring all these services under one roof, so you do not have to log in and out of multiple apps, which is helpful I suppose.
Truth is Hulu does have everything and is available on almost every modern device, as long you are willing to pay for all the extras. The Hulu free trials on offer are confusing and not applicable to all these add-ons but are still a great way to find out what Hulu has to offer.
I’ll give it 4 stars simply for bringing everything under one roof but loses a star as it does not exactly offer any savings and its on demand content still lacks behind other major competitors.
