Is Sky Stream TV worth it?
This is not a straightforward question, you can get access to some great channels and its DVR and 7 day replay are great selling points, so if this is what you are looking for then yes. However there are similar services, some of which are better at sport content.
Our Sky Stream TV Review
Sky Stream TV is one of the most impressive streaming services on the face of it, when you access their website instant comparisons of what they offer compared to major competitors in the Cord-cutting market. They are offering many of the premium networks including CBS (which has its own streaming service), paramount network and MTV, so with 70+ channels it does seem to be leading the way. The price is also leading the way at just $35 per month making it cheaper than the major competitors.
The layout of the navigation is a little different with a more boxed type design rather than a timeline of a traditional TV guide, which is a little annoying when your use to the timeline, but after a while it is quite simple.
The DVR is included in the basic package giving users up to 50 hours of recording, pausing, fast forwarding to store. However, this is made a little pointless by one of Sky Stream TVs most attractive features, it has a 7-day replay. What they do is record every single show, film, documentary within the last 7 days for users to watch when they can, this is impressive as it amounts to over 400 days of nonstop streaming.
Customer support is reportedly very helpful, although I have not had the pleasure of encountering them but the reviews seem to be very positive regarding their response rate and general helpfulness.
It is not all perfume and flowers with this service, initially it seems to good to be true. But I would say it is probably on Par with its competitors. Yes! the comparisons seem impressive, however remember it is easy to cherry pick the information for comparison. You do not Get the Cinemax, HBO or Showtime or Starz Network channels in your basic package. Whilst HBO, Showtime and Cinemax are included as an additional add-on Starz is no where to be seen. These extra channels will cost an additional $25 per month and includes 8 more premium channels.
Another point that is slightly odd is you have to setup on a main device before connecting to a mobile device, so you will need a device such as Smart TV, Fire Stick, Chromecast, PC etc.. before getting access to it on your mobile. The $35 package is for only one user, but for an extra $5 you can get the multiuser package. Our initial $35 package has now had a total of $30 added to it for us to get everything ($65). If we now compare this to say FUBO TV at a similar price point but instead of having HBO, Cinemax and Showtime it has the NFL Network, so they ultimately balance out, my point is ignore the comparison but look at what you like to watch. If you are more of a boxset kind of user then great, but you prefer sports then other streaming services may be worth looking at first.
